Beamer (getbeamer.com) — the in-app announcements and changelog platform, not the BMW nickname or the AirPlay app — is free up to 1,000 monthly active users with one seat. Paid plans are $59, $119 and $299 a month, or $49, $99 and $249 a month billed annually, for 5,000, 10,000 and 50,000 MAU with unlimited seats. Feedback and NPS are separate add-ons at $99 a month each, and every paid plan has a 14-day free trial. Prices below are from getbeamer.com/pricing, checked October 31, 2026.

Two things about this table decide most Beamer bills. The meter is monthly active users, the people who see your Beamer widget or page, not the people on your team — every paid plan comes with unlimited seats. And the add-ons are priced per module, so the Beamer cost for a team that wants feedback and NPS on top of announcements is the plan plus $198 a month.
What each Beamer plan includes
Free — $0, 1,000 MAU, one teammate
The free plan covers the core: unlimited changelog posts, the in-app widget and standalone page, basic analytics, pinned posts, post scheduling and filtering posts by URL, with one language and no API access. It carries a Beamer watermark — the pricing page describes it as "a non-intrusive watermark to promote our app" — and allows exactly one teammate.
Starter — $49/mo annual ($59 monthly), 5,000 MAU
Starter is where the watermark goes and the seat limit lifts. It adds boosted announcements and appearance customization on top of the free plan's in-app and standalone changelog and analytics, and it raises the audience cap to 5,000 MAU. For a small product with a handful of teammates, this is the realistic starting price.
Pro — $99/mo annual ($119 monthly), 10,000 MAU
Pro doubles the MAU allowance and adds the engagement layer: a dedicated inbox for the widget, comments and reactions on posts, and basic segmentation so an update can target a subset of users rather than everyone.
Scale — $249/mo annual ($299 monthly), 50,000 MAU
Scale is the audience tier: 50,000 MAU, advanced segmentation, user activity tracking and a staging account for testing announcements before they go live. Above 50,000 MAU the pricing page says to contact sales.
Is Beamer really free?
Yes, with three limits. The free plan stops at 1,000 monthly active users, allows one teammate, and shows Beamer's watermark on the widget and page. Those are the only strings: there is no time limit and no card required. The 14-day free trial is a different thing — it is a trial of the paid plans, not an extension of the free one — so a product that crosses 1,000 MAU moves to Starter at $49 a month billed annually, and the watermark goes with it.
The costs that surprise people
- Your audience sets the bill, not your team. Beamer prices by monthly active users, so a growing product pays more without changing anything about how it uses the tool. The breaks are 1,000, 5,000, 10,000 and 50,000 MAU.
- Feedback and NPS are $99 a month each. They are add-ons on every plan, so Starter with both is $257 a month billed monthly — more than four times the base price.
- The free plan is one seat. The moment a second person needs to publish, you are on Starter, whatever your MAU count.
- Above 50,000 MAU the price is a conversation. There is no self-serve tier past Scale.
Beamer vs AnnounceKit cost
The two incumbents of in-app announcements meter differently: Beamer by monthly active users, AnnounceKit flat per project. Which costs less depends on your audience size and your team size, and the head-to-head with both vendors' numbers is on the Beamer vs AnnounceKit comparison.
Is Beamer worth it?
If the job is making updates visible inside your product, Beamer is one of the strongest tools in the category: a polished widget, banners and push notifications, segmentation and engagement analytics from Pro upward, and onboarding tours via its Userflow acquisition. The MAU meter is fair for small audiences and expensive for large ones, which is the trade the pricing model makes.
What no Beamer plan includes is the writing. Its AI content generator drafts or rewrites a post from a brief you type; nothing reads your repository or your development activity, so someone still decides what shipped and describes it for every announcement. You are paying for distribution and measurement, not for content.
Beamer alternatives by budget
- AnnounceKit — the other write-it-yourself announcements suite, priced flat per project rather than by audience; its current module-based prices are on its own pricing page.
- Olvy (free plan; from $60/mo) — feedback and changelog in one tool, with a free plan for individuals and an Essentials plan at $60 a month (olvy.co/pricing, checked October 2026).
- Herald (from $16/mo billed annually) — a GitHub-native changelog tool whose AI drafts releases from merged pull requests; changelog-only, and that price is from its pricing page as last verified by this site, since sendherald.com has not been reachable to re-check since September 2026.
- Shipstar (Free, $0; Solo $25/mo or $240/yr; Team $29 per seat/mo) — generates the changelog, release notes, social posts and release emails from your GitHub commits and pull requests, and is priced by generation credits rather than by audience: the Free plan has 1,000 credits a month, Solo 50,000, and a changelog costs 100. It has no segmentation, push notifications, tours or engagement analytics — if those are the job, Beamer is the tool; if the writing is the job, Shipstar is.
