Connecting GitHub and Tracking Repositories

Shipstar connects directly to your GitHub account so it can read your commit history and automatically generate marketing content from your code changes. During onboarding, you'll be guided through a GitHub authorization step — you can also connect or reconnect at any time from the Sources section in your dashboard. When authorizing, Shipstar requests the necessary permissions to access both your personal repositories and any organizations you belong to, including private repos.

Once connected, you can choose which repositories to track from the Sources page, which shows two tabs: Repos for managing your tracked repositories and Commits for browsing recent activity. All tracked repositories are scoped to your project, and Shipstar aggregates commits across every active repo when generating content — so if your product spans multiple codebases, you can track them all together and get a single unified output.
