Shipstar offers three plans — Free, Solo, and Team — each with a monthly credit allowance used for content generation. Understanding how credits work helps you get the most out of your plan and avoid surprises.

How credits work
Credits are consumed only by content generation — reading content, publishing, managing mailing lists, and all other API requests are free and unmetered. Each generation charges a fixed number of credits when the job is queued:
- 300 credits: Featurebase Articles (seed mode)
- 100 credits: Blog Post, Feature Page, KB Articles, Intercom Articles, Featurebase Articles, Public Changelog, Release Notes Email
- 50 credits: Weekly Product Update, Content Ideas
- 25 credits: Daily Product Update, LinkedIn Post, Twitter Thread
Credits reset monthly on your billing anchor day — the day you signed up, capped at the 28th. Unused credits do not roll over. On the Team plan, credits are pooled across all seats, so any member can draw from the shared allowance.
What happens when credits run out
- API and dashboard generation requests return a
402 Payment Requirederror with a message showing how many credits were used versus your limit. - Scheduled generations skip occurrences while credits are exhausted and resume automatically after the next monthly reset.
- Everything else keeps working: published content stays live, and you can still review, edit, approve, and publish existing drafts.
Check your usage
The dashboard sidebar shows a live credit meter at all times. For a detailed breakdown — credits used, credits remaining, and your next reset date — go to Account → Plan. If you need more credits before the next reset, you can upgrade your plan from the same page.
